Using eduroam on Nokia
Contents |
Log on to eduroam using the Nokia N800/N810 internet tablet
If you use OS2007 (if you have not updated your N800/N810) you will need to trust the eduroam SSL certificate first. If you use OS2008 you can skip the first part and go directly to Setting up eduroam.
Certificate trusting
- Open the "Certificate manager" in the "Control panel" (Menu -> Tools -> Control panel, double-click on "Certificate Manager" in the "Connectivity" section). Click the "Authorities" tab, then find and select the certificate issued to "GTE CyberTrust Global Root".
- Click on "View", it should look like this.
- Click on "Trust", then enable "WLAN".
- Click on "OK" - the certificate is now trusted for WLAN.
With the certificate trust in place, your tablet shouldn't complain about certificates or CA Authorities when you connect to eduroam. If it does, you've either done something wrong, or you've connected to a bogus network. In the latter case, don't give it your password ...
Close the "Certificate manager", and instead open "Connectivity" ("Connectivity" section of the "Control panel"), then click on "Connections".
Setting up eduroam
- If you already have an "eduroam" connection defined, select it and click on "Edit", otherwise, click on "New" and enter "eduroam" as the connection name and select "WLAN" as Connection type.
- Click on "Next" and select these settings.
- Click on "Next" and select EAP Type "TTLS".
- Click on "Next" and select EAP method "EAP MSCHAPv2".
- Click on "Next". Replace the "<user>" part with your DTU databar / CampusNet login, and provide your password. Contrary to the screenshot, it is very important not to "prompt password", due to a bug in the Nokia firmware.
- Click on "Next".
- Click on "Advanced" and then the "EAP" tab, then select "Use manual user name" and enter the same eduroam ID.
- Click on "Other" and set the Power Saving to "On (Intermediate)". This will prevent it from going into power save and thus loosing the connection.
Click on "OK", then on "Finish", and you may now also close "Connections", "Connectivity" and the "Control panel".
Congratulations, you are now done setting up eduroam!
