SunRay
A SunRay terminal is not a PC but a thin client. Your desktop applications are run on a server and the SunRay displays the image.
A SunRay 170 terminal has a 17-inch flat panel display with a resolution of 1280 x 1024. It has 4 powered USB ports, a projector out port and a video-in port.

Troubleshooting SunRay terminals
Case A
Symptom: The screen is black except for a SUN-logo and the text "Check signal cable" and "External video source".
Cause: Somebody has switched on external video source on the terminal.
Solution: Press the "source" button on the screen once.
Case B
Symptom: The screen is black and nothing happens when you move the mouse.
Cause: The session is locked and the screen is set to black.
Solution: Press a key to get a screen where you can type your password. If another user is logged in, you can press CTRL ALT BACKSPACE twice to log off the other user.
Case C
Symptom: The screen is black, but your can catch a glimpse of something in the background.
Cause: The backlight in the screen has gone out.
Solution: Pull out the power cable to the terminal, after a second or two you insert it. If this does not help please report the error to G-Bar support. If you were logged in before you pulled out the power cable, you keep your session.
Case D
Symptom: The screen is light blue with a moving dark blue box. In the box there is graphics and some text.
Cause: Depending on the text it can be:
- somebody has pulled out the net cable.
- somebody has inserted the net cable in the wrong slot.
- an old session which was not closed normally.
- another problem
Solution: 1. and 2. you can try to solve yourself by making sure that the net cable is in the right slot. 3. and 4. are difficult, please report the error to G-Bar support.
