How do I change my password?
Go to this web page https://password.dtu.dk/
This will change your password on,
- The GBar computers, (The terminals)
- The passwords on the windows databars
- Passwords of campusnet and portalen.
Note: Your new password must comply with the following restrictions:
- It must contain characters among at least three of the following four categories:
- Lowercase letters ('a' to 'z')
- Uppercase letters ('A' to 'Z')
- Digits ('0' to '9')
- Special characters(everything else, but see next item).
- Avoid control characters (Ctrl-letter) and the characters # (hash), $ (dollar), % (percent), @ (at), ` (backtick), / (slash) and DEL (ASCII decimal 127 or hex 0x7F), as they cause problems on some TTY terminals, in URL strings, etc..
- Also avoid all national characters and other non 7-bit US ASCII characters, as they may be difficult or impossible to enter on some keyboards.
It may take up to half an hour for the password to be synchronized to all servers - including DTU Portalen.
If you have forgot your password, you must go to the students administration in building 101.
How do you disable autolock of your desktop?
See this topic.
Why does it take so long time to unlock a desktop
When my session has been lock, it takes ages from I move the mouse untill the password prompt appears?
The thing is that xlock (which is the desktop lock program) does not respond to mouse movements. So if you only move the mouse, well yes, then you will wait forever :! To get the password prompt, you have to either press a key on the keyboard or click a mouse button.
Why doesn't my mouse menu have all the latest items?
If you are using a smartcard the menu in your window manager might be a cached version from when you logged in. To get the latest version, restart your window manager. This can be done from the window manager's menu without logging out.
If you are using CDE, you might have a personal menu configuration in the file dtwmrc in the ~/.dt/ directory or in one of its subdirectories, probably ~/.dt/C/. To get the latest global version of the menus simply delete the dtwmrc file. This will make the system use the global definitions instead. To see the .dt directory in the CDE filemanager choose View->Show Hidden Objects.
If you are using Openbox, you can simply click on Reload in the menu, and your menu will be updated.
